Let God Sort 'em Out(Redux)

Remake of my old "Let God Sort 'em Out". However the main difference here is that the world is trapped in a 'Diesel-punk 100 years war' between pseudo-Fascists against Communists. With a new power joining the ranks, Technocratic Russia.

The world changed in 1775, when the Battle of Quebec was won by American forces, leading to the eventual annexation of Canada into the young United States. The American Revolution would gain victory in the face of over whelming odds against the British, thanks to the aid of France and Spain. With the American Revolution won, a new revolution in the Old World would shake Europe to it's core, the French Revolution.

The French Revolution was bloody, without end, leading to the death of Kings, Nobles, Priests, Nuns and those who go against the crazed state, all but one. In the chaos rose the Emperor, Napoleon Bonaparte. French victories in Trafalgar, and Egypt would lead to France's domination of Western Europe, however not all would fall under his domain. Prussia, Austria and Russia would remain stronger allies as a result, reforging their Holy Alliance against Napoleon. In Spain and Portugal, the monarchs would flee to their strongholds in the Americas as a result, building up their power and forging the Holy Latin Imperium. When the war came to America, the British would attempt an invasion from the pieces of America they had, such as in the furthest Canadian territories and Newfoundland. The Americans, allied with the French after the Louisiana Purchase, would beat back this invasion and take over the remaining British Territories in North America and South America, cutting the British Empire down. While America would remain dominant in North America, that power would be contended later.

As the Holy Latin Imperium sought to emulate the US's settlement policies they began to push people into places like Northern Mexico, however the local natives would put up a fight and in response, the Holy Latin Imperium would invite Americans in on mass to help populate certain regions, leading to the Texan Revolution and independence of Texas. This would snowball into the First American War. The First American War was caused by the two sides expansive policies, in America it was referred to as "Manifest Destiny" and in the Imperium, "The Second Reconquista"(Which in itself had long term goals of retaking tradition Latin Catholic regions like Quebec and Louisiana and eventually retaking the "Fatherland" as it were in Iberia). The war was bloody but in the end, in 1849 the war had ended. Initially it would seem that the Imperium would win due to it's size militarily and territorially but due to uprisings, corruption, and military inefficiency, the US conquered over half of the Imperium's territories and set up puppets in South America, such as Brazil, Argentina and others as well. America ruled the continent, but only for a short time.

The issue of slavery was a deep one, dividing the nation between Slave and Free. In the North and West, abolitionism would overtake the politics there, while in the South, slavery would dominate the economy and politics. This divide caused small scale civil conflicts in areas where Abolitionism and Slavery were divisive issues. Ultimately leading to the American Civil War. The Confederate States of America declared it's independence as a result of two events, the election of Abraham Lincoln and the Fort Sumpter incident. After four years of fighting, the two sides were beaten to a standstill and the South established itself after the Battle of Anna. While the Mexican states joined with the Confederacy hoping to eventually gain independence, American South America remained Loyal to the Union. While the Confederacy would gain independence it's victory was cut short.

The Confederacy would have to deal with internal revolts in it's more Latin territories, poor whites were kicked to the curb and treated as virtual slaves. The Confederate economy would remain stagnate as a result of various states like France and Britain refusing to do business with a slave state. Forced industrialization would lead to major problems with various factions, such as Plantation Aristocrats, workers, slaves, and Industrialists sponsored by the state. 

Early in the next century, a great war would ravage the world. Trench Warfare, Old Alliances, Discontent would overwhelm the world. The Grand Alliance; France, the United States, the United States of East Asia(an American project in Japan), the Chinese Empire, and their various spheres. The other side, The Holy Alliance; Prussia, Austria, Russia, Britain, and the Ottomans(a shock to all). Casualties were high, but in the end The Grand Alliance held out. The result would be the Socialist Revolution in the CSA, transforming the state into the Confederate Socialist States of America. Britain ousted the King and Queen, reforming into the British Republic, the Ottomans reverted to the "Caliphate". Austria and Prussia were beaten down to much smaller states. Russia was only state to retain it's Tsar after leaving the war a few years in. 

After the war, the 20s remained a tumultuous between the two American powers. Northern Anti-Communism lead to the North flaring war multiple times, in the South they mirrored this with promises to "reunite and communize the North". After the Great Market Crash, America and the rest of world became entrapped in the Great Depression. With the North weak, the South attacked and invaded. While the South was beaten back, internally, the US was going through a major political transition. The President Edward Yorkton promised to continue the war until the death of the CSSA. Congress members, Senators and other high ranking politicians feared this believing it would destroy the country had him assassinated. However, this secret became known to Edward's son, Richard Yorkton a high ranking military commander, who after his father's death would assault the Capitol in Detroit with the military by his side. A small scale civil war occurred and Richard crowned himself Emperor of the American Empire and promised to continue the war with the CSSA. One problem occurred though, the Second Great War.

The Second Great War was caused by Austria's military expansion after the election of Jon Franz. Under him he would reinvigorate the Austrian Empire, annex Prussia and the Rhine and go to war with France. Allied with him was China, Brazil, the Caliphate and the British Republic. France before that time had also been facing political instability, but after a coup by Napoleon VI, a noted friend of Richard, had pushed the country into a militant stance against the Austrians. Even declaring a Crusade against the Caliphate. The American Empire and CSSA found themselves on the same side ironically. The CSSA invaded most of South America, the Americans would defend their East Asian allies and fight against the Chinese. The French contended with Austria, Britain, and the Caliphate. As a result, the British Republic collapsed and the Union of Oceania, led by the IngSoc Party, was formed in it's place. The Caliphate was dismantled, and the Austrian German Empire died out. South America was reorganized into a new Communist state and the Chinese were forced to except republicanism. 

Peace died quickly however, as two sides, not content to let either side live on once more fought in another war, one that has lasted to this day.The Third Great War, also known to some as the Third American War has taken the lives of millions in ever extending mass warfare. The Mason Dixon line has been ravaged by over century of war, and the world is not sure if it's yet tired of war.

On one side, the long standing Grand Alliance, led originally by France is now de facto ruled by the Unionist Americans. The Northern Americans are still ruled by the Emperor and he continues to wield power beyond the President of old. Congress still exists but now is relegated to being just an extended council of advisors. The East Asians have evolved as well, while considered the most democratic of the various states, they have become more authoritarian and have been heavily westernized, including adopting Christianity. China has followed similar lines, but the Presidents have been ruling till their individual deaths, many comment on it's similarity to the previous state. The United Kingdom of Australasia was established after the ousting of the King after the First Great War, and continues to aid the Americans and French. The French today have reverted to pre-revolutionary France politics, with the Catholic Church, Nobility, and King ruling. The latter two going by different names, most notably is the fact that Emperor Napoleon VI declared his rule divinely ordained after their victory against the Muslims. The rest of Europe has been pacified by the French after three centuries of war. The Kingdom of Prussia broke away from Austria when it became clear they were going to lose, and allowed French troops through to the East. The Nordic Federation was established after the Napoleonic War, and has been a French ally since then. 

The Communists are the other faction fighting for their lives just as much as their Capitalist counterparts. While each member claims to follow the "one true Communism" each of them realize any break ups would give the Grand Alliance the edge they need. The CSSA, after the First Great War and Socialist Revolution, had organized itself into a powerful state thanks to Alfred Wagenknect, and his successor John Wilson. However the latter would prove to be a brutal dictator. While he helped them in the wars that would follow, famines were quite common in the CSSA due to agriculture collectivization and industrialization. The Holohispana Genocide is one example of these famines that lead to the death of millions of the Mexican people. Despite set backs, the CSSA remains the most powerful of the Communist states in terms of it's military and industrial might. The Union of Oceania is led by the English Communist party and holds the most powerful navy within the Marxist International. They are considered the most tyrannical of the Communist bloc due to their surveillance program and control over the reproduction of it's citizens. The Federation of Latin Socialist Republics models itself off of the CSSA and was unified after the Second Great War. Oddly enough, they heavily glorify their Imperial history of the past. The Arabs broke off from the Caliphate during the Second Great War and through their massive oil reserves are the main suppliers of the Marxist International, which has made the Arabian borders the sight of many battles. Ironically one of the most divisive topics within the Communist sphere is Religion, while the CSSA and FLSR have readopted Christianity quite fervently and view it as a means to establish true Communism, Oceania and the APR see religion as a curse to be destroyed. Despite this, they put up a strong front against the "Capitalists" and see the war as the great step to Communize the world.

The one neutral power in this fight is the Holy Technocracy. Founded during the Great Market Crash, it was established by the two brothers Alexei and Boris Sokolov. Leaders of the United Technocracy Party, in their private life they were industrialists and their ideas of Expert Rule caught on. Mass Consumption, Industrialization, and Production is the name of the game. They rebuilt Russia into a modern state to feared but in 1940, both Brothers were killed by Communist radicals. Their successors pushed Russia only reacting to the world occasionally. During the Third Great War, the Eurasian Technocratic Party has established a new religion. The Trinity Cult, as it is called, worships the "Three gods of Rationalism". The World-Maker, the creator of the Rational Universe to which all things, scientific and otherwise derive from. The other two are the ascended forms of Alexei and Boris, each considered gods in their own right. Alexei being the god of rational governance and Boris the god of strategy and war. This strict cult has become the new state religion of the Technocracy and hence recently changed their name to the "Holy Technocracy of Eurasia". Eurasia is neutral for now, biding it's time for one side to win so that it will conquer the world and bring the light of the Trinity Cult to the world.

Meanwhile, Northern American scientists have discovered something completely new, believing it can be weaponized into a massive destructive bomb, hoping that it will bring an end to the war.
